Meet Joe!

Now Meet Joe’s “Better Half!”
Here’s Joe’s lovely wife, Becky. She and Joe renewed their wedding vows on the occasion of their 30th wedding anniversary back in August 2011. Not bad for a couple that met and married in just over six weeks. Who says there’s no such thing as love at first sight? Becky retired in May 2012, and just finished writing her first book, a children’s historical novel featuring a time-traveling cat called Wolfie: A Cat Beyond Time. Now comes the hard work of acquiring an agent and, hopefully a traditional publisher. She expects to start her own blog soon, and we’ll let you know when it happens.
Becky has many interests, including reading, writing, and watching every episode of Property Brothers on the Home and Garden TV channel. Right now, she is busy trying to learn how to play the hammered dulcimer, a string instrument familiar to most residents of the western North Carolina mountains.
Recently, she served as the head of book reviews for the Blue Ridge Bookfest in Hendersonville, NC. She often provides plot ideas for Joe’s Matt Davis Mystery Series, and is an invaluable part of his writing success. She is also a breast cancer survivor of more than seven years, and urges everyone to get their annual mammogram and to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Joe Perrone Jr is an author whose diverse background includes a stint as a sports writer with a prominent New Jersey newspaper, the Herald News, and several years spent freelancing as an advertising copy writer.  He has had numerous short stories published in the Mid-Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide.  In addition to his writing,
he spent ten years as a professional fly fishing guide on the historic Beaverkill River in New York's Catskill Mountains.  Nearby Roscoe - "Trout Town USA" - serves as the setting for Joe's second, third, and fourth Matt Davis Mysteries, Opening Day, Twice Bitten, and Broken Promises.  Roscoe is a place to which Joe returns as often as possible to fish his favorite waters and visit with long-time friends.

In October of 2015, Joe suffered a mild stroke, which served as a real wake-up call. He underwent a complete lifestyle change, including switching to a diet that is about 90 percent vegetarian, which resulted in a weight loss of nearly 30 pounds.  Unfortunately, the stroke caused an already dicey balance system to become even worse.  As a result, Joe’s days of wade fishing his beloved Catskill trout streams with fly rod in hand may be nearing an end.  He’s still fishing, but more often than not it’s with a spinning rod (affectionately referred to as a “zip gun” by hardcore fly fishermen).  Joe still enjoys cooking, reading his Kindle, listening to music (anything but hard rock), car trips with his wife, Becky, and relaxing with his cats.  He and his wife live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, with their two Calico cats, Cassie and Callie.  Joe welcomes comments and queries from readers via email at: joetheauthor@joeperronejr.com. He makes every effort to respond to all emails promptly. And don’t forget to follow Joe’s blog at: www.joetheauthor.wordpress.com.
